In this 6-week micro-credential, you will learn how to listen, read non-verbal cues, respond and express yourself well in the workplace. Discover how communication works and strengthen your personal and professional connections. Look at intercultural communication and the role of perception in effective communication.

Effective Interpersonal Communication can be stacked with Advanced Interpersonal Communication, and recognised as equivalent to a module within the Bachelor of Applied Social Science Degree.
If you meet the minimum entrance criteria, you can enrol for the degree and apply for module exemption

What You’ll Learn
Over the course of six (6) weeks, through videos, readings and discussions, you will:
Week 1: The foundations of effective interpersonal communication.
Week 2: Intercultural communication.
Week 3: The role of perception in effective communication.
Week 4: Verbal and non-verbal communication.
Week 5: Active listening and responding in personal, professional and social settings.
Week 6: Analyse how effectively you communicate.
By the end of this course, you will be able to:
- Define the foundations of effective interpersonal communication.
- Analyse language and meaning in an intercultural context.
- Analyse the role of perception in effective communication.
- Examine verbal and non-verbal communication.
- Examine active listening and responding appropriately in personal, professional and social settings.
- Apply the principles you’ve learnt and reflect on your experiences.
You will have also created a portfolio of work, which you can use to demonstrate your newfound knowledge – perfect if you’re looking for that first job, getting back into the job market or chasing a promotion.
