Course Overview

A growth mindset is an incredibly powerful tool. After all, one’s mindset influences your behaviour and choices that can liberate you to take risks and reach your potential. On the flip side, a fixed mindset can limit you to remaining as you currently are.

Simply put, a mindset is a set of assumptions and beliefs that you hold about life and yourself. Your mindset significantly impacts how you perceive and respond to yourself and the world around you. It is also more than simply thinking positively, it is also a way of understanding learning, ability, and personal development that influences how we respond to challenges, setbacks, feedback and success.

In this short course, based on the research of Dr Carol Dweck, we will help you understand how your current mindset shapes your behaviour, and introduce you to practical tools for developing your own growth-oriented approach to life.

You will explore the differences between fixed and growth mindsets, how you think about success and failure, why growth is possible, and strategies for responding more constructively to challenges.

Working through a personal growth mindset workbook, you will be working to apply each concept to a real growth opportunity in your life, building a personalised action plan that you can continue using long after the course ends.

What You’ll Learn

Through course videos, readings and discussions, you will explore the following topics:

  • Understanding fixed and growth mindsets.
  • Identifying your own mindset patterns.
  • Rethinking success, failure and learning.
  • Understanding how growth happens through effort, strategy, support, feedback and neuroplasticity.
  • Recognising and reframing fixed mindset self-talk.
  • Developing practical growth mindset habits.
  • Building grit, perseverance and long-term growth.
  • Creating a personal Growth Mindset Action Plan.

Course Outcomes

By the end of this short course, you will be able to:

  • Evaluate your current mindset patterns and select more growth-oriented responses to challenges.
  • Interpret success, failure and setbacks through a growth mindset that supports ongoing learning and development.
  • Explain why personal growth is possible and identify the conditions that support lasting development.
  • Apply practical mindset strategies to respond more constructively to challenges, setbacks and feedback.
  • Demonstrate the role of perseverance, purposeful effort and long-term focus in supporting continued growth.
  • Create a personalised plan for continuing your growth mindset beyond the course.
