The Building Strong Relationships short course will introduce you to key concepts and terminology in relationship sexology.
Throughout this 20-hour course, you will explore different types of relationships and unpack the dynamics that shape them. In doing so, you’ll gain insight into your personal role in forming and maintaining healthy relationship patterns.
Moreover, the course includes numerous practical and reflective activities designed to support self-discovery. As a result, this course is not purely academic, but rather a meaningful learning experience that will enhance both personal growth and relational awareness.
In addition, you’ll discover why conflict is an inevitable part of a relationship, learn how to manage it, and when to seek professional support. Lastly, you will gain tools for building healthy, layered relationships and develop awareness of sexual dysfunctions and disorders.
What You’ll Learn
Through videos, readings and discussions, you will explore the following topics:
Session 1: Sexual Identity, gender identity, sexuality and sexual self-esteem
- Identify important vocabulary and terms used in Sexology
- Unpack the Circles of Sexuality: A Strength-Based-Sex-Positive Approach
- Explore your own sense of sexuality
Session 2: Successful relationships, healthy habits and conflict resolution:
- Learn the importance of identifying healthy and unhealthy habits in relationships.
- Deepen your understanding of the term “self” so you can form healthier relationships
- Explore how to navigate conflict in relationships
Session 3: Love, relationships and marriage:
• Unpack Sternberg’s Triangular Theory of Love
• Expand your knowledge of the types of love languages
• Identify the various forms and meanings of marriage
• Examine the different types of relationships that people may engage in
Session 4: Factors that affect adult romantic relationships
• Investigate various attachment styles
• Recognise sexual disorders and dysfunctions that affect relationships as per the DSM V-TR (this is to build your personal knowledge on the topic and is not for diagnostic or treatment purposes).
• Evaluate when professional help should be sought out and what to expect when professional help is received.

By the end of this course, you will have:
• Explored important concepts and terminology in sexology as a foundation, the individual and the individual in a relationship
• Identified how to build successful relationships, create healthy habits, and enable effective conflict resolution.
• Deepened your understanding of love, relationships and marriage
